As a Fulbright scholar myself, I strongly believe in higher education as the solution to many of my country’s problems. I was, therefore, very excited to collaborate with the non-profit start-up Shaheen, Pakistan’s first higher learning platform that gives Pakistani students the resources and information they need to study abroad. Shaheen was founded by Dr. Shaheena Raheem, a Harvard-educated physician, and Bilal Malik, currently the Allston Burr Asst. Dean of Harvard College, Leverett House, and Lecturer in Anthropology at Harvard University. I was one of the first people to be brought on to the team and worked closely with both Shaheena and Bilal to design the identity and web experience for the Shaheen brand.

My UX work for Shaheen involved designing the website look and feel. The challenge was to find the simplest and most effective way to organize the immense information as we wanted users to access it in three distinct ways: by country, field and level of study. I achieved it through a visually simple layout that lets users select an entry from each of the three categories and then look up the relevant information by hitting ‘Go’.
